Rock Engineering
- Legal appointments of a Rock Engineering Practitioner as required by the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) of South Africa.
- Compilation and implementation of Codes of Practice (COPs) for Fall of Ground (FOG) as required by the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) of South Africa.
- Routine monitoring and management of rock engineering excavations (underground and open cast) during their lifespan.
- Training of staff and/ or personnel who are directly involved and affected by such mining activities at different levels so that they are able to identify and manage general rockfall related hazards independently.
- Provide FOG investigations for Clients as well as independent Customers who may not be necessarily our Clients.
- Geotechnical logging that may include impact splitting of the core as required and/ or depending on the purpose of such logging and the planned mining method.
- Assist in designing regional support as well as local support in an underground mining methods setup. In open cast mining, actual slope designs, e. highwalls as well as low wall designs. Further designs include designing for stable dumps and spoil material for different material compositions.
- Conduct numerical modelling on complex problems that require practical and accurate results.
- Investigate and predict possibility of sinkhole propagation to surface should the overburden material collapses. Further investigate and predict possibility of surface subsidence that may result from pillar system failure.
Geotechnical Engineering
- Foundation investigations for light and heavy structures (shallow foundations to deep piled foundations).
- Geotechnical Investigations for township establishment or enrolment with the National Home Builders Recreation Council (NHBRC); NHBRC Phase 1 and Phase 2 geotechnical investigations.
- Centre line investigations for Powerlines, Roads, Pipelines and Railway lines.
- Sourcing of construction materials for the construction of pavement layer in road construction projects.
- Geotechnical Investigations to assist in the construction of Earth/ Embarkment dams.
- Evaluation of soil materials and/ or properties for the selection of suitable sites that can be used for Cemeteries and Solid Waste Disposals.
- Investigations, classification and risking of dolomite stability and sensitive areas.
- Geotechnical Investigations for Artificially surfaced playing fields.
- Site supervision, Quality Assurance and Quality Control of construction materials and construction processes.
